WesBell Electronics is a wire and cable distributor founded in 1988 with value added services.
WesBell Electronics is a wire and cable distributor with value added services that focus on the needs of OEMs, large and small industrial manufacturing companies, maintenance and repair organizations, and electrical contractors that need specific requirements. Customer service is our main priority as we have a discussion with each and every one of our customers even for small orders. We like to understand our customers so that we can offer various options that help them achieve free shipping thresholds, and the highest quality product. It was founded in 1988 by Kenneth Bell and Dean Westover, a perfect team of inside and outside sales. Dean traveled throughout New England developing strong relationships with customers while Kenneth remained at the office contributing to the relationships on the phone. Wire and cable distribution was the name of the game, buy large quantity products from branded manufacturers and sell smaller quantity.
As the years went by many customers requested that we service the wire for them in some way, such as cutting it to length, adding a spiral stripe, twisting the wires together, and so on. Dean and Ken decided to reinvest some of the profits into new equipment that could service wire and cable products to add value to their business. While distribution remains 80% of our business in 2016, we?ve added tremendous value to our services department with equipment as extravagant as the size of a car that cut, strips, and terminates a wire in about one second. We are an ISO 9001 certified company with a mission of continuous improvement because our wire harnesses and cable assemblies have tight tolerances that are requested from prestigious companies within the industry. Continuous improvement is an initiative to live by, personally and in business, because the current level of a company doesn?t change the fact that it could be improved every day.
People and machines can and will make errors, but how a company fixes those errors determines how many loyal customers they have. We factor in risk management along with corrective and preventative maintenance in order to improve our operations for all of our loyal customers. When we make mistakes we own them, admit it to the customer, and fix the problem as quickly as we can. Sometimes it requires added freight charges or overtime for employees, which equates to time and money, both of which we are willing to provide when we make an error. We also have services that aren?t on our website, such as manufacturing wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and additional soldering capabilities. We don?t engineer the products to work electronically, however we can make any requirement you have as long as you send us the specification to adhere to. We?re an ISO 9001 certified company that continuously improves our procedures and processes, manages risk opportunities and prevent errors from reoccurring.

Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
WesBell Electronics is a wire and cable distributor founded in 1988 with value added services that focus on the needs of OEMs, large and small industrial manufacturing companies, maintenance and repair organizations, and electrical contractors that need specific requirements.
What is your primary product or service?
List of Services:
We started in 1988 as a distributor that bought in bulk from manufacturers and sold spools of 100’, 250’, 500’ and 100’ at a time to customers. During that time it was a benefit to buy from us because we would cut any random length the customer requested, such as 137’. It was normal to spool 15-20 lengths of 100’ for customers on a daily basis.
Spiral Striping:
We was asked to add a spiral stripe to hook up wire after being in business for a few years, so we bought the equipment to do it for all of our customers. We accept spiral striping orders for as little as 100’ by choosing a color and a stripe color. Once you have it striped we can also perform other services on it as well (below).
Twisting Copper Wire:
We started twisting wire together to help block EMI (Electromagnetic Interference). We twist it and send it to customers on 100-1000 foot spools and also cut hook up wire to length (6”) and twist two wires together.
Cut to Length:
We have machines that cut hook up wire and small diameter cables, along with stripping the insulation off both ends. We hold tight tolerances to 1/16” and sometimes less when necessary. As the quantity of pieces increases on our website, the price will be adjusted down (per piece) as a quantity discount. We is an ISO 9001 certified company that has strict quality processes in place to make sure we don’t ship product out of tolerance.
Tin Dipping Copper Wire:
Once hook up wire is cut to length the copper strands can fray when bumped, handled, bagged and shipped. In order to avoid fraying we can “semi-strip” the insulation by leaving the small cut insulation on the end of the wire, which can be easily pulled off by hand. We can also remove the small piece of insulation and dip the copper strands into tin (solder). The solder will hold all of the copper strands together as one and allow for a better connection when soldering it to the application.
Single Conductor Portable Cord with Burndy Lugs:
Single conductor portable cord is welding cable, DLO cable, Type W, Stage Lighting cable and Super Vu-Tron Welding cable. We cut it to the requested length and crimp Burndy Lugs to one end or both ends depending on the request. We can also add heat shrink tubing to cover the transition between insulation and lug if needed.
Multiconductor Portable Cord Preparation:
As you’re checking out with you purchase of multiconductor portable cord you can also purchase our services of cutting it to length, removing the outer jacket on both ends, and stripping the insulation from each conductor. Be sure to add some notes as to exact dimensions, tolerances and other requirements you might have.
Multiconductor Electronic Cable Preparation:
As you’re checking out with you purchase of multiconductor electronic cable you can also purchase our services of cutting it to length, removing the outer jacket on both ends, stripping the insulation from each conductor, and tin-dipping each conductor so that the copper strands don’t fray. Be sure to add some notes as to exact dimensions, tolerances and other requirements you might have.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?

We’ve always tried to set ourselves aside from our competitors by being innovative and offering products and services that others do not. WesBell is an ISO 9001 certified company with a mission of continuous improvement because our wire harnesses and cable assemblies have tight tolerances that are requested from prestigious companies within the industry.
